'Pull it up Boys' live from The Platform Tavern as part of Southampton's 'Music in the City' Festiv
Just uploaded a live sing along Sea Shanty 'Pull it up Boys' from Southampton's Music in the City festival back in October 2014 to the video section...Had a 'swell' ;) old time with the Platform Tavern choir in full swing and voice....Now repeat after me....'Pull it up Boys...Pull it up Boys...Grab hold of that rope and Pull it up Boys'
Brand new song...'Honest and True'
First started thinking about this song just under a year ago...The melody, title and chorus jumped into my songwriting mind as I was riding my bike towards Winchester...Such is inspiration! It has whispered to me many times over the last year and I have always quietly replied 'your time will come my honest friend'...Well I woke up today and it was the first thing I thought of...It had stopped whispering and was shouting 'WRITE ME'....So I sat at the kitchen table and got down

Ramblings and re-writes...Sketches and scrawls.
Here's a photo of the re-writing process of 'Where I was Born'...I woke in the middle of the night recently and some new words and rhymes came flying into my semi-concious, still half dreaming mind...So I quickly grabbed my trusty Staedtler Norris School pencil and scrawled some new possibilities across the page... Looking forward to sharing it in its next incarnation soon :)
'Where I was born' A song in working progress
Here's a song I started working on today with a working title of 'Where I was born'...I thought it would be interesting to share it in it's infancy and then re-film it when it has reached completion...I expect it to go through a number of lyrical, melodic and structural re-writes before it is finished...This video was filmed literally as I was working on it...A rough round the edges snapshot of the working process of a song :) Feel free to comment...I'd love to hear from you.
Sun is shining....
Sun is shining and it's time to start recording a new version of a song I wrote a couple of years ago with a Scottish songwriter called Sam Brown...The song is a Scottish Lament called 'Land of Sweet Heather and Fern'. Sam wrote most of the lyrics and I wrote the melody and chord arrangement...Will post the song on the website as soon as it is finished...Watch this space :)
