jim played a house concert for us, bringing a wealth of stories from his years growing up in the heart of Hampshire. With a rich catalogue of songs raised on traditional folk songwriting, tinged with blues and contemporary topical touches of an old soul gently resisting the pace of the modern World.
A real Gent with an eagerness to share not only his stories, but his process, Jim gave us an insight into his tales, sharing the tale of his fathers crop circle adventures 'Painting Circles in the Corn' , debuting a new song 'My Old Friend' and bringing the evening home with a singalong to his shanty 'Pull it Up Boys'

"Jim Chorley performed at this years Wessex folk festival. He is a talented guitarist and impressive songwriter. He plays traditionally based folk music that is contemporary and fresh and often spiced with flashes of real humour. It was a real delight to have him perform on the Small Stage this year - Bob Ford, The Small Stage, Wessex Folk Festival"
Bob Ford - Wessex Folk Festival Review
“'Jim Chorley is one of those rare songwriters who manages to marry poetry with music, and in doing so, create a unique world of his own. The sparse instrumentation of his recordings only highlights the confessional tone of the vocal delivery. Highly recommended'”
Richard J. Parfitt - Ex front man of 60ft Dolls and Senior Lecturer, MMus Songwriting
"To finish another really enjoyable D3W3 evening at Alton Rugby Club, the audience were treated to a top quality session from singer/songwriter Jim Chorley who brought warmth and passion to a range of numbers that drew on thoughts and places close to Jim’s heart. To hear well crafted lyrics that were recognisable and vivid meant that those lucky enough to be there were absorbed into the music. Rounded off by a superb a capello number it made the whole evening truly memorable."
